Brief Character History

Anna Brady showed up in Salem in 1982 with her daughter Carrie to find her husband and Carrie's father Roman. Roman believed Anna was dead, but she told him she was rescued and then sold into white slavery. Anna had red marks on her back which she claimed where whip marks, but were actually scars from multiple sclerosis, which she kept a secret.
Anna divorced Roman and soon took a job as Tony's secretary. However, Anna had secretly been working for Stefano all along. Stefano had agreed to pay Anna one million dollars to have Roman fired from the ISA. Anna hypnotized Carrie into planting fake deposit slips in his place. Roman was suspended from the police force, but the ISA believed he was framed.
In 1983, Anna and Tony went to Las Vegas, where Anna drugged and married Tony. Tony was angered, but when Stefano's will was read he was forced to live with Renee for one year to gain his inheritance. Anna and Tony lived in the DiMera mansion with Renee and David Banning.
Anna soon became pregnant with Tony's child, and jealous Renee tried to kill Anna in a boating accident. Unfortunately Tony was on the boat with Anna when an explosion went off. Tony and Anna were rescued by David, but Anna lost her baby. Later that year Tony learned exactly how Anna got him to marry her, by drugging him. Tony quickly divorced Anna, even though Anna had fallen in love with him by that time.
Later Anna became involved with Alex Marshall, but when she found a letter from Kelly Chase implicating Alex in dealings with Stefano she was forced to flee town because Alex was after her. Anna hid in a warehouse, but when it caught fire she was rescued by Roman, who was on the run from the law after being framed for the Salem Slasher murders.
Anna soon learned that the evidence connecting Alex to Stefano was destroyed and she could safely return to Salem. Once in Salem Anna returned to her old job as Tony's secretary, but Alex forced her to spy on Tony for him. While snooping around in Tony's apartment one day she found Tony chained up, and realized she was working for an imposter. Before Anna could get away Andre DiMera, who was impersonating Tony, locked her up with Tony. Later the two were rescued by Roman.
In 1984 Anna and Alex Marshall opened up a fashion company. Alex, Anna, and Tony picked Haiti for a photo shot. On board the plane flying to Haiti was Eugene Bradford, Calliope Jones, Bo Brady, Hope Williams, Anna DiMera, Liz Chandler, Carlo, Daphne DiMera, Andre DiMera, and Tony DiMera. On the way to Haiti Andre DiMera surprisingly popped up, and when he threatened the pilot to change his course the pilot died of a heart attack, and the plane crashed on a remote island. As a result of the plane crash Daphne DiMera died in Andre's arms. When Tony learned about this the to fought, and Andre met his demise in a patch of quicksand. Tony gave the necklace with the prism to and island girl, but Stefano managed to get the prism back. Roman Brady showed up, and fought with Stefano atop of a nearby cliff as Bo watched from below. Roman eventually fell, and died on the beach in Bo's arms. When Bo left Roman to get help, Roman's body was gone when he returned. Eventually the Coast Guard arrived, and everyone was rescued.
After returning to Salem, Alex Marshall sold his and Anna's fashion company.
In 1985, Alex stole his ex wife Anna's dress designs, but Anna had the last laugh when Eugene rigged the fabric on the dresses to disintegrate while they were on the runway. Later that year Anna had a brief romance with Prince Nicholas Arani II, but it was cut short when he was murdered by the Dragon. Tony and Anna became engaged once again. Their first marriage was thwarted by Alex Marshall, who hired an actor to play the part of the minister. Their second wedding was thwarted when Anna was kidnapped by an Asian potentate. Eventually Tony and Anna were married, and returned to Salem.
After returning from Salem, Anna was accused of murdering an art dealer, Claus Van Zandt, who swindled her out of profits from pieces of hers he sold. Anna was innocent, and while trying to prove her innocence Tony disappeared. Anna was also blamed for her husband's disappearance, but in truth Tony was held captive by a very much alive Claus Van Zandt.
When it was discovered that Claus was still alive Anna was let off the hook, but Tony was till missing. Later Anna received a court document telling her Tony had divorced her. Anna left Salem in 1986 and spent the next few years living in Europe before returning to Salem in 2007 to give the family some letters that had belonged to Tony.
She soon became embroiled in the Brady/DiMera feud, and even rekindled her old romance with Roman before discovering that for the last twenty years, Tony had been living on an island, and it had been his cousin Andre; who was impersonating him. Tony and Anna quickly reunited, realizing their love had never died. They re-remarried in May of 2008. Anna resumed her career as well and went to work as an executive for Tony's advertising firm. The two were happy for a while, but as Anna sensed the hostility between Tony and Stefano, she started spending more time away from Salem. When Tony died in a freak accident, Anna blamed Stefano for causing Tony so much pain that he put himself in harm's way. After Tony's death, Anna moved to Chicago.
After Grace's death, Anna reached out to E.J. and offered her condolences for his lost daughter. The two kept in touch and when E.J. needed help getting revenge on Stefano, Anna agreed to help. E.J. paid Anna $5 million to kidnap and keep Sydney hidden while he made everyone in Salem think she was gone, until E.J. wanted to return her back to Salem.
Anna left town, but when Rafe started asking questions about Sydney's kidnapping, Stefano and E.J. got nervous that Anna would incriminate them. So, Stefano poisoned Anna to keep her from talking. When she woke up, she went on the run to hide from the authorities.

Brief Character History

In 1983 Stefano brought his nephew, André DiMera to Salem. As Stefano and his "son" Tony had very different opinions on how the DiMera Empire should be run, Stefano wanted a "solider" and enlisted ruthless Andre's help by having him undergo plastic surgery to look exactly like his cousin Tony. Their first plan was to frame Stefano's archenemy Roman Brady for the "Salem Slasher" murders. While wearing a mask of Roman, Andre killed Daisy Hawkins on the pier in front of Marlena Evans-Brady and Sandy Horton and, as a result, the real Roman was jailed. During this time, André also had Tony chained up in his own penthouse apartment and took over his cousins identity. One day when Anna was snooping around for Alex she came upon Tony and André imprisoned her with him. Ultimately, Roman managed to free Tony and Anna, yet after a duel with Tony, André managed to slip out of Salem.
André returned to Stefano's island compound where the two formulated their next plan. Their goal was to acquire three prisms designed by Larry Welch's father in order to heal an inoperable brain tumor Stefano had. One prism was in the belly of an alligator, another in a necklace owned by Daphne DiMera which fell into Calliope Jones' hands and the third in Russia. André and Stefano also planned to use the opportunity to get revenge on their enemies by luring them to Stefano's secret compound and soon the timing seemed perfect for them to carryout their vengeance.
In 1984, Tony, Anna, and Alex Marshall formed a fashion company and picked Haiti for one of their photo shoots. In addition to Tony and Anna, aboard the plane to the shoot were Eugene Bradford, Calliope Jones, Bo Brady, Hope Williams, Liz Chandler, Carlo Forenza, and Daphne DiMera. Unbeknownst to the others, Andre stowed away! While in flight, he shocked his enemies by emerging and demanded the pilot to change courses. Because of his threatening nature, the pilot died of a heart attack and the plane crashed on a remote island. As a result of injuries obtained in the crash Daphne died in his arms. When Tony learned about his mother's fate, he and Andre fought which ended with Andre's demise in a patch of quicksand … or so everyone thought. In reality, Andre had escaped death and he and Stefano continued to plot revenge against their enemies. In 1985 Tony was forced to leave Salem, but was soon kidnapped by Stefano and Andre and stranded on a deserted island where he would spend the next twenty-two years of his life. With the "real" Tony out of the way, Andre's vengeance would be nearly unstoppable.

The Tony-Impersonation Years
(Please note, anytime the name "Tony" appears in quotes it reflects Andre posing as Tony). Under the guise of Tony, Andre returned to Salem in 1993 to marry his fiancée Kristen Blake. She and her brother, Peter, were adopted by Stefano as children when their parents were killed, yet Stefano had plans for her and "Tony" to wed someday. Stefano, once again on the verge of death, had told Kristen that he wanted to see them marry before he died. Kristen agreed to marry him, even though she was in love with John Black. However, on the day of the wedding, Kristen left him at the altar to help John find Marlena and Roman's daughter, Belle.
Meanwhile, Billie Reed decided to turn her life around and start her own cosmetics company, Countess Wilhelmina. To fund her venture, Billie convinced Alice and Maggie Horton to become investors. Unfortunately, Kate Roberts bought out Countess Wilhelmina to spite Billie for posing as the author of Jack's manuscript. Later that year, Billie befriended "Tony." He bought up 49% of Titan Industries and then brought Billie in to run the Countess Wilhelmina division.
"Tony" and Kristen were attempting to marry for the second time when John showed up at the wedding claiming that he had evidence linking Stefano to Curtis Reed's murder. However, when Stefano hopped in a car and drove off, John shot at the tires. Stefano had planned it so his car would go off the road and he would be "killed" in the crash. Kristen, blaming John for her father's death, married "Tony" on February 18, 1994. "Tony" learned later that Stefano was alive, but he kept it a secret fearing Kristen would leave him.
In late 1994, Kristen, "Tony," Peter, Jen, Bo, and Billie ventured to Maison Blanche, the DiMera Family home in the Louisiana bayou, for a charity event Kristen was holding there. Unbeknownst to the guests, John and Marlena were being held captive there by Stefano, but they weren't the only ones as Billie saw a woman who looked exactly like Bo's deceased wife Hope wondering the grounds. Unfortunately, nobody would believe her, yet an amnesiac Hope, called Gina by Stefano and his assistant Celeste, was in fact there. As the event went on, Roman arrived to arrest Peter for trafficking drugs through one of his nightclubs. Meanwhile, a jealous Celeste leaked gas into the cell where John and Marlena were being held and started a fire, but Roman managed to rescue them. When John emerged from the rubble, both Kristen and "Tony" were shocked and horrified to see him in shackles. Kristen was also shocked when she spotted her father Stefano who was supposed to be dead! "Tony" ran back into the fiery house to retrieve his father's computer which contained a file on John's past. He managed to get the computer, but Maison Blanche burst into flames before he could escape and, as a result, "Tony" went blind.
Upon returning to Salem, Kristen began sleeping with John. She had learned that "Tony" knew Stefano was alive all along and that he had also switched her birth control pills with placebos. Kristen left him and began living with John at his loft. She also managed to crack the notebook computer from Maison Blanche and was horrified to learn that John was a priest. Kristen told John the truth, but he refused to believe it. In search of the truth, they traveled to a parish where he served and his mentor, Father Francis, recognized him as Father Black. A woman from the parish also recognized him. John had put his handprints in a wall near the parish and he was shocked when they matched and he was forced to accept that he was a priest. Though he wanted to be released from his vows, a friend told John to live as a priest for awhile in order to see what he was giving up. Kristen returned to "Tony," who had bought a gun and was planning on killing John. When Kristen told him about John, he abandoned his plans. Later that year "Tony" regained his site, but he continued to lie in hopes of catching Kristen and John together.
When John was released from his vows as a priest, Kristen left "Tony" again to be with him. Meanwhile, "Tony" learned that he had a rare, but fatal blood disease and only had a short time to live and formulated a plan in which he would frame John for his own murder. "Tony" wrote his entire plan down in his diary and he also confessed his plans to Father Francis. When he learned that Father Francis was going to tell John the truth, "Tony" confronted him. "Tony" took Father Francis' blood pressure pills and agitated him until he had a heart attack. Later, "Tony" cut of Father Francis' oxygen at the hospital causing him to lapse into a coma.
"Tony" then journeyed to Aremid for Peter and Jennifer's wedding, yet his true intentions were to set his trap at the Blake House for John. At the wedding reception, "Tony" picked a fight with John and got him worked into such a frenzy that John shouted out he wanted to kill him. "Tony" then went up to his room and lured John there with a phone call. "Tony" disguised his voice and told John that "Tony" was the one who attempted to kill Father Francis. Up in his room, "Tony" and John fought. John eventually left through another door which "Tony" had sprinkled gunpowder on. He then began begging John not to shoot him as various Salemites listened in. "Tony" then activated a device that caused his gun to fire. When the Salemites finally got into the room, "Tony" was mortally wounded and died shortly after. Everything was going according to his plan except one thing - The "Woman in White" got a hold of his diary. Eventually, John was cleared of the murder charges and everyone assumed they had heard the last of "Tony DiMera."
It was seven years before the citizens of Salem learned that "Tony" was not dead, but had been kept alive and nursed back to health by Stefano. Although he still believed he suffered from the blood disease, a lie which Stefano convinced him of, he was otherwise healed from his gunshot wounds. "Tony" made his grand re-entrance at John and Marlena's anniversary party. He not only stunned everyone with his "resurrection," but with his new-found obsession with Marlena. He found out that the "Gemini Twins," Rex and Cassie, were his children with Marlena and used them to get closer to her. However, a short time later, he had another shock coming when he found out that John was his half-brother, from his mother Daphne's side. Since John believed "Tony" capable of anything, the newfound siblings were unable to form a relationship. Things quickly got worse for "Tony" and he was devastated to learn that Rex and Cassie were not his children after all and was furious with Stefano who knew the truth all along. Later, Stefano escaped to Europe and he was unable to get his revenge.
As the "Salem Stalker" murders began in 2003, "Tony" was quick to become the number one suspect until Mickey Horton agreed to defend him and got him out on bail. The night of the Horton Circus, "Tony" took center stage promising to reveal the killer. While dragging out the moment for dramatic effects, a bucket of blood was dumped on him and he was attacked by a tiger. While in the hospital recovering from his wounds, the Salem Stalker came in to administer a fatal dose of drugs. "Tony's" last words to the killer confirmed his knowledge of who the Salem Stalker was as he looked up into the eyes of Marlena Evans. "Tony" died while trying desperately to communicate the truth to the others.
Months later it was discovered that "Tony," as well as all of the other victims of the "Salem Stalker," had survived their attacks and were being held captive on the island of Melaswen. The island itself was designed to look exactly like Salem. He had hidden himself for quite sometime and, when he made himself known, the others didn't trust him. After sabotaging every attempt the captives made to escape, "Tony" finally revealed himself as the mastermind behind the whole shebang - a plot he cooked up to get back at everyone he felt had wronged him. As it turns out, he had never forgotten about his ex-wife, Kristen, who left him for John years earlier. He again faked his death after a duel with John, making certain everyone believed he was gone for good. Nevertheless, when the captives were making their escape, he set off a device that caused a massive explosion which, in turn, caused the sea around the island to become choppy and many of the hostages were feared dead once the others were rescued. In reality, "Tony" had some of them re-captured and sent to a DiMera Castle in Europe.
All the captives eventually escaped, but "Tony" wasn't finished wreaking havoc on the citizens of Salem. Using an intermediary, he enlisted Sami Brady into a scheme to punish all of those who had done her wrong, which satisfied his own need for revenge. After getting John hooked on painkillers as well as an assortment of other crimes, Sami eventually turned on him after he took Lucas, Brady, Philip, Shawn and Rex hostage. Because she was involved for months, "Tony" held it over her head and, once he was incarcerated, used the information to blackmail her into helping him break out of jail. Unfortunately, he was ultimately unsuccessful.
By using the DiMera wealth and power, "Tony" was eventually able to get out of jail so he could attend to Stefano, who was once again dying of an incurable disease. At first he was part of a plan that involved stealing John's comatose body from the hospital, removing one of his kidneys and transplanting into Stefano. When that didn't help, Stefano knew what it would take to cure his sickness - stem cells from Sami's unborn child whom she conceived with his son, E.J. "Tony" was enlisted to help get the cells by any means necessary and often tortured and tormented Sami. Ultimately, E.J. foiled all of "Tony's" kidnap attempts on Sami and they turned the tables on him and kidnapped Stefano in hopes that they could convince him to end the Brady/DiMera "Vendetta," thus getting Sami and her unborn child out of harms way. Stefano was released, but had not cooperated, yet his actions prompted the Brady family to investigate the cause of the war between their families.
A short time later, while searching for clues to end the feud, Bo, Hope, Doug and Julie discovered Lexie, whom every believed had died months earlier in a car accident, imprisoned in tunnels which ran from the DiMera Mansion to the abandoned Doug's Place on the lake. Despite narrowly escaping an explosion set by "Tony," Bo and Hope managed to rescue Lexie and reunite her with her family. To the Bradys, Stefano claimed that no one in his family was responsible, but privately blamed Andre and was furious with him for harming one of his children. Andre, still acting as Tony, declared he was doing it for the good of the family, yet Stefano was beginning to realize he had created a monster.
It would be Anna DiMera's return to Salem that would ultimately lead to everyone discovering that the man they believed was Tony was actually someone else. Once she arrived in town with letters she believed would help the Brady family uncover the truth about the Vendetta, Anna was asked to see Tony and get more information from him. As the plan was unfolding she soon began to suspect the man everyone called "Tony" was not, in fact, the real Tony DiMera. After convincing the Bradys of this, Bo confronted the imposter, who revealed himself as Andre, and demanded to know what happened to Tony. After a scuffle on a rooftop, Bo managed to get the upper hand and forced Andre to admit that Tony's whereabouts were tattooed ton Bart's back. Andre then fell from the roof and was taken to the hospital where he later escaped from as he had been faking his injuries all along. Yet the end of Andre's era of impersonating Tony was officially over, but, unfortunately, his reign of terror was not.
Because of all of his rouge actions, including his imprisonment of Lexie and stealing a piece of Benjy's liver, Stefano lost faith in Andre. Feeling betrayed, yet still wanting revenge, Andre continued to terrorize the Brady family as well as Tony, who after twenty-two years of being stranded on an island, was rescued by John, Marlena and Anna. During a duel with Tony, Andre accidentally killed Stefano's beloved, yet bumbling henchman, Bart. Stefano was distraught and, after he discovered Andre also killed Benjy, turned his back on him. Andre then went into hiding. Later, when an unbalanced Steve Johnson kidnapped Stefano and hijacked a newscast to draw him out of hiding, Andre found it as his chance to save Stefano and hopefully get back in his good graces. Upon arriving at the TV station, there was a very tense standoff, but, in the end, Andre managed to escape by taking Hope hostage. On a ledge of the stations rooftop, Bo tried to make a deal with Andre in return for Hope's safe release. When it became clear that wouldn't happen, Bo had no choice but to take a shot. Andre fell from the roof and was again hospitalized, yet this time his injuries were real.
While he lay helplessly in his hospital bed, Andre was visited by Shawn Brady, Sr. who had the notion of turning off his life support thus ending Andre's reign of terror once and for all. Shawn went as far as to barricade himself in the room with Andre, but, when it came down to it, he couldn't do it. Shawn didn't want to turn into a killer himself and he abandoned his plans. Seeing one last attempt to get revenge on his enemies, Andre feebly turned off his own life support, killing himself, in hopes that Shawn would be blamed. Ultimately Shawn was cleared yet, even from the grave, Andre had one more act of vengeance planned as he had contracted his former cellmate to kill John. The hit was made and initially seemed to go off as planned as everyone believed John was dead. However, Stefano had stolen John's body and tried to mold him into what he had always wanted Andre to be - the perfect soldier.

Brief Character History

Alice Grayson was born in Salem on January 23, 1911. Her family was blue-collar, her alcoholic father working as a handyman. Although he was a kind man, Alice was a sensitive girl and embarrassed by her father’s drinking. As a result, she found solace in books and her studies. However, when she met her high school sweetheart, Tom Horton, everything changed. He was one year her senior and his love inspired her to become the confident, outspoken woman the entire town of Salem would grow to love and respect.
In 1930, when she was 19-years-old, Alice married Tom and she soon became the mother of his five children, twins, Tommy Jr. and Addie, Mickey, Bill, and Marie. Together, she and Tom raised their children and saw them through the joys and sorrows of life. In 1953, they believed their oldest son, Tommy Jr., was killed in action in Korea. He would eventually return to Salem in 1967, alive, but with amnesia and a new face due to extensive plastic surgery he had performed as a result of his war injuries. At the time, however, his apparent death devastated Alice, but she remained strong for her other children.
With Marie planning to wed in November of 1965, Alice had to face the fact that all of her children were grown and their home, once busy and bustling, would become empty. As such a devoted mother, Alice wondered what to do with all of her time. Tom tried to cheer her up, but he didn’t have to, because before long, Alice would discover her children and grandchildren would need her support and guidance more than ever throughout the years to come.
Once her days as a housewife ended, Alice worked as a hospital volunteer for many years. In 1983, when Roman was arrested for the Salem Slasher murders, Alice helped him escape from jail by drugging some doughnuts she brought to him. When he was rushed to the hospital, she helped Bo block the road so Roman could get away.
In 1990, Alice learned that her granddaughter, Jennifer, was posing as Katerina Von Leuschner and planned to marry Lawrence Alamain. Alice went along with Jen and pretended to be Cecily Smith. Alice went to Alamainlande with Lawrence and Jen and she realized Jen was in trouble. Alice tried to escape and get help, but Lawrence caught her and through her in his make-shift prison along with Frankie Brady. After the escape from the cave-in at Lawrence's villa, Alice suffered a stroke and was forced to undergo surgery.
In 1991, Alice learned her marriage to Tom wasn't legal. She was heartbroken and Tom made matters worse when he didn't think too much of it. Tom said they were married in their hearts and that's all that mattered, but Alice wanted a real wedding. Alice went so far as to leave their house until he married her again, and on October 17, 1991 Tom and Alice remarried.
In 1993, Alice would become a business woman. When her granddaughter Julie left Salem, she and her daughter-in-law, Maggie, turned Julie’s nightclub Wings into Alice's Restaurant. Later that year, she and Maggie teamed up again to invest in Billie Reed's up and coming cosmetics company Countess Wilhelmina.
In 1994, Alice and Tom founded the Horton Center, which was based out of their home. It provided shelter for run-away teens or families in need. Sadly, that would be the same year Alice lost Tom. He died in his sleep and his death affected nearly everyone in Salem, but, mostly, Alice. However, after Tom died, she put all her effort and time into running the Horton Center so that his legacy would live on.
In 1998, Alice's grandson, Lucas Roberts, moved in with her. He was a recovering alcoholic and the courts ordered him to stay with his grandmother. Although he eventually moved out, Alice’s house was never quite as empty as she once imagined it would be. Shortly after Lucas left, Hope moved in for a short time.
Throughout the rest of 1990s, Alice remained a pillar of Salem’s community. She spent a lot of her time at home babysitting, baking her famous doughnuts, and hosting her yearly Christmas tree decorating party. She also remained a figurehead at the hospital, and whenever there was a decision that needed to be made there, her opinion was of the utmost importance.
Between 2003 through 2004, the Salem Stalker struck close to her family by killing Maggie and grandson-in-laws Jack and Doug as well as other close personal friends. As always, Alice was there to offer support for her loved ones. However, during this unnerving time, many of Salem's most prominent citizens became suspects in the murder spree including Lucas. Despite what many others believed, she remained firm that her grandson was not the killer, and she was right.
Alice was eventually confronted in her kitchen by the real killer - her dear friend Marlena. She was being controlled by Andre DiMera and Alice would be her last victim. The beloved Horton Family matriarch "died" in March 2004 when Marlena caused her to chock on one of her famous doughnuts…or so everyone thought!
After Marlena "died" a short time later, she awoke on an island to find Alice there, alive and well. Alice began the long explanation that she wasn't really dead and, in fact, none of the Stalker's victims were either. They were all being held captive on the tropical island of Melaswen that was an exact replica of Salem.
The victims all rallied together as they worked on a way to get off the island. Their captivity lasted until November of that year when John, Bo and Hope, among others, came to their rescue. Although saddened that some of her friends were lost at sea, Alice was thrilled to finally make it back to the real Salem and reunite with her family and loved ones.
Since her return, Alice has kept herself busy with more babysitting, baking, and being a moral compass for her family and friends. She's also traveled a bit, too. And, of course, she has hosted her traditional tree decorating party where her kin get to hang their personal ornaments on the Horton Family Christmas tree.
Sadly, December 26, 2007 marked the last time Frances Reid appeared on-screen as Alice (sans flashbacks). However, the character remained an active member of show, but all of her involvements from that point forward happened off-screen and were recounted through various characters.
2008 marked the first year Alice was unable to host the ornament-hanging party. Although still celebrated at the Horton home, she remained upstairs while sick with the flu. Maggie, Doug and Julie took over Alice's hosting duties, while she enjoyed some one on one time with Mickey in her room watching holiday movies.
Alice would join her family at Bo and Hope’s house to hang the ornaments on the Horton Christmas tree in 2009, spending most of the night in the kitchen baking cookies with her great-grandchildren. A few weeks later, in January 2010, her world was devastated when Hope broke the news to her that Mickey had died. Alice took her son’s death extremely hard, but managed to attend the funeral.
After Mickey’s passing, Alice was never the same. Throughout the winter and spring, her health began to decline. In June 2010, Alice’s health took a sharp turn for the worse and her family knew she was slowly fading away.
Out-of-town relatives and friends rushed to Salem to say goodbye to Alice as well as share their favorite memories of her. Her children, Bill and Marie, arrived as well as grandchildren, Melissa, Mike, Jennifer, and Lucas, with his daughter Ali. Laura Horton also visited as well as close friends including Kimberly, Kayla, and Carrie Brady. Laura mentioned that Alice’s bedroom looked like a greenhouse because so many people sent her flowers. Marie added that the roses – Alice’s favorite – bloomed earlier that morning and Alice was able to see them one last time.
On June 23, 2010, Alice died. Her death was felt throughout Salem, and her family and friends gathered to mourn her passing as well as celebrate her full, vibrant life. At the cemetery, one by one, her loved ones placed a yellow rose on casket. Hope added, “I love you, gran. You look out for us, for the rest of the days of our lives.”

Brief Character History

Dr. Alex North was brought to town after Marlena Evans began experiencing hysterical amnesia after a miscarriage. It wasn't long before it became obvious that Alex and Marlena had once been involved as he was the first person she remembered, even though those memories were only brief flashes. Alex' actions were very suspicious, as he was frequently hypnotizing Marlena in his attempts to get him to remember his past, but after her husband John forced the issue again and again, Alex finally admitted the truth -- he was Marlena's first (and still legal) husband! Years earlier, he was rescuited by the government not long after they were married for a special OPS mission to examine the effects of stress on both friendly and enemy soldiers. He was shot down over enemy territory and captured, and was eventually declared legally dead. When he was eventually free, he learned that Marlena had experienced a bout of hysterical amnesia after being informed of his death and had no memory of him. He still tried to track her down, but by the time he found her she was married to Roman and they had Sami and Eric, and he didn't want to cause her any more problems so he never told her who he was to ensure her happiness.
Over the years, Alex became an expert in amnesia as a result of what happened to Marlena. When he was contacted by Lexie Carver to come to Salem on Marlena's case, he couldn't resist the chance to see her again, to see if he could help her. He employed a series of techniques including hypnosis, focal points, music and medication, but was unable to bring Marlena's recent memory back to her. After realizing that in order to solve her current problem with amnesia he needed to address the original incident, he decided it was best to reveal their past connection so that she could better heal. His announcement infuriated John, who refused to accept Marlena's marriage to Alex regardless of any proof that Alex could offer, and refused to accept Marlena's decision when she chose to be with Alex instead of him.
John followed Alex and Marlena on their honeymoon to a tropical island. John uncovered evidence that Alex was an abusive husband. After confronting Marlena with the information, John went after Alex. The two men struggled, and Alex fell off a cliff, presumably to his death.

Brief Character History

Lexie was adopted by her parents as a baby and didn't even realize she was adopted. Her aunt Frankie had always been in her life. Lexie came to Salem with high aspirations, and fell in love with Police Head Honcho Abraham Carver. They wed in April of 1989, and after spending some time in Chicago, came back to Salem. In the early nineties, Lexie began to have feelings for her husband's brother Jonah. Jonah started "cleaning up" the streets of Salem, all because Lexie had made a simple comment about how unsafe the streets were. When Lexie learned that Jonah was the Pacifier, she ended up being kicked off the police force for helping him. Although they were willing to reinstate her, by that time, Lexie had decided to give medical school a try. She fought her feelings for Jonah for a long time, and eventually things smoothed over in her marriage. Jonah moved on with Wendy, his girlfriend, and Lexie became settled into married life.
Lexie, with Abe, followed the rest of Salem to Aremid, a mysterious city where Stefano owned a house. She found out that she was adopted and went on a chase to find out who her real parents were. The resident village weirdo, The " Parrot Man," dropped random hints about her ancestry. Lexie was sure that Frankie/Celeste knew who her real parents were. Celeste lead her on a wild goose chase for as long as she could, even telling Lexie that her deceased parents lay dead in an Aremid cemetery. When Lexie went to the gravestones and read the dates, it said "her parents" had died a good one hundred years before she was born. Lexie continued to search for more clues. Finally, The Birdman gave in and revealed that Celeste was, in fact, Lexie's birth mother, but refused to name the father. The Birdman finally said Stefano was her father. She found out that Celeste had given birth to Stefano DiMera's child after they had become involved. Not wanting " the DiMera Curse" to control her daughter, she gave her up to the loving parents Lexie grew up knowing, who just happened to be Celeste's sister and her husband.
Abe and Lexie went back to trying to have children, a dream they had been working on for years. For awhile there, Lexie even thought she was pregnant, but it turned out not be be. Having lost her job as a police officer over the vigilante issue, Lexie had turned to medicine, and was a resident at University Hospital. She was slowly getting closer to both of her parents, but when Vivian needed to convince Stefano that she was dying, Lexie initially went along with it, until her conscience started to eat away at her. Abe and Lexie finally gave up on having children of their own, and decided to adopt. Stefano talked them into adopting the child of Rolf's niece Margo, but he had a plan of his own...he switched Margo's baby with Hope's baby at birth, and the child that Abe and Lexie named Isaac and took home with them was in reality the Brady baby. For months Lexie and Abe were in blissful ignorance. They had the baby they had always wanted, and he was a beautiful, healthy baby.
Lexie eventually realized the truth, but by then, she couldn't bear the thought of giving up the little boy she had been raising. When Abe would not help her, she left Salem with the boy, and it was during that time that Abe relinquished custody to Hope and Bo. Once Lexie was returned to Salem, she was forced to return the child, and left with no baby, as Margo's former lover Glen had come to town and reclaimed the child Bo and Hope had been raising. Lexie was prohibited to have any contact with the little boy who thought of her as a mother, but she couldn't stop herself from going to his christening, where she knew Rolf was going to try something. At the same time, it seemed her marriage to Abe was over forever, and Lexie had a one-night stand with Brandon Walker. She was finally able to accept that she lost Isaac (now known as Zack) when she learned she was pregnant. The only problem? She didn't know who the father was!
Throughout her pregnancy, Lexie never told Abe that Brandon was a possible father, and Abe was overjoyed to find out that he was about to be a father at his age. After a fairly easy pregnancy, Lexie prepared to give birth to a baby whose father's identity was still up in the air...on-air paternity tests had said Abe was the father, but Sami had switched the results. Only hours after giving birth to her son, Lexie was confronted in the hospital by an angry Brandon Walker and his scheming new wife, Sami. Brandon demanded to know if the child was truly his. Lexie shocked everyone there by saying that she planted the test result that said Brandon was the father, knowing she could use it to prove Sami was lying and manipulating, and that in reality, the baby belonged to Abe all along. Brandon was saddened to lose a possible child, but thrilled to learn that he had a little half-brother (this was the same day that Brandon revealed he was Abe's son from a long-standing affair with Fay Walker).
With their son Theo in their arms, Abe and Lexie felt their family was finally complete. They made preparations for little Theo's christening. Lexie waited at the Church for Abe, but tragically, he was never to get there. Abe was shot on the pathway in front of his home by the Salem Stalker, and despite the best attempts of the staff at Salem University Hospital, Abe died only hours after being found, leaving Lexie and Theo to go on alone. Although devastated, Lexie was soon thrown into the lives of her friends and family as the Salem Stalker began killing others in town. It was Lexie who was the one to comfort Jennifer when Jack was killed only weeks after Abe, and Lexie who had to be the one to tell Mickey Horton that his beloved Maggie had passed away. She was also the one who had to give Jennifer Deveraux the devastating news that it looked like the baby she was carrying would be born with serious defects.
While grieving for Abe, Lexie began to open her heart up to ISA officer turned cop Tek Kramer, who had been there for her constantly since Abe died. She was finally beginning to move on when the shocking news came that the dead might not be dead after all. Not only was Lexie horrified that Abe might be alive and she was moving on with her own, but the thought that she had mis-pronounced the deaths of her friends and family (Tony was one of the stalker victims) was one that stayed with her no matter how she tried to forget it. When it was proven that they were all alive and well, Lexie was thrilled to have Abe back with her and Theo, although she felt slightly guilty about the feelings she had been developing for Tek. Her happiness was almost short-lived after learning Abe was having serious vision problems. When her step-son (and former lover) Brandon Walker came back into town, Lexie was determined to stop him from getting involved with Sami Brady again. Although she tried, nothing she did worked. Brandon was still just as in love with Sami as ever, but determined not to interfere in her new happiness with Lucas.
After Brandon left town, Lexie focused on her marriage to Abe, but Abe's blindness and impotence was causing problems between them. Abe was having trouble adjusting to his new life, and he and Lexie fought a lot, Lexie often reduced to tears. Tek was there for Lexie when she needed a shoulder to cry on, and the two ended up having sex in her office. Lexie soon regretted her act, especially when Abe told her he wanted to work on their marriage, but Dr. Alex North knew she had slept with Tek, and when Lexie threatened to reveal his hypnotizing Marlena, Alex blackmailed her, stating that if she said anything to anyone he would divulge her affair. After Alex revealed himself as the husband Marlena had once thought dead long ago, he apologized for what he had done, and when Marlena chose to stay with Alex, the matter was dropped on both sides.
Lexie's attempt to move on with her life and her life with Abe ended abruptly when her former lover, Tek, witnessed E.J. shooting John Black in a warehouse. She and Tek were forced to fake their deaths in order to save their own lives. However, Andre kidnapped Lexie before she could leave Salem. Months later, Lexie was discovered in a series of tunnels beneath Salem. She attacked both Bo and Hope before being subdued, and quickly joined the Bradys in their plots to bring down Andre before reuniting with Abe.
In February 2008 Lexie became chief of staff at Salem Hospital. Her work began to take a toll on her marriage and she and Abe entered marriage counseling. They soon learned that work wasn't their problem, but the fact that their son Theo was having developmental problems. He wouldn't speak and couldn't relate to other kids. In the summer of 2008, Theo was diagnoses with autism.
In order to spend more time with her son, Lexie resigned as Chief of Staff, but remained at the hospital as a doctor. She also supported her husband, Abe's campaign for mayor. In November 2008, Lexie became Salem's First Lady.
Despite Abe's positive career turn, Lexie continued to struggle with her relationship with her son and her father. Lexie grieved the death of her "brother", Tony. After his death, she tried to embrace Stefano and EJ, despite their criminal behavior.
